We stayed at the Great Wolf Lodge as part of Classical Conversations' 10th Anniversary (a homeschool group we belong to). We got a fantastic rate per night, $119 (usually $470), which included a kid cabin room (bunk beds in a walled-off "cabin") and 6 passes to the indoor water park.
We arrived here on Monday
and upon checking into the room, and catching a glimpse of the water park, decided to book another night.
The bucket at the top of the picture dumps 1,000 gallons of water every 5 minutes.
We're talkin' a big! indoor water park, complete with wave pool, little tyke section, lazy river, slides galore and . . .
Surfing.
Please, no one tell Gem's doctor that we let the girl go all over a water park for three days in a drenched boot. Thankfully, it wasn't a cast that can fall apart. And the certrifuge-style, water-out-of-your-swimsuit gizmos in the bathrooms do wonders in getting the sleeve of the boot almost dry! We tried one of those cast protectors that sucks to your leg and makes a vacuum seal, but the stretching over the boot stretched it too far and it didn't work. She was taking on water faster than a roll of toilet paper thrown in a toilet (Hmm, wonder how that imagery got into my brain). So we took off the protector and let her wander free. As you can see, it didn't keep her from "surfing".
A wonderful surprise was that Popcorn loved the water too. He's always shied away from anything beyond the bathtub, but after one day at the park he was sliding the slides and walking the lazy river!
Okay, enough for now. I'll write about Colonial Williamsburg in my next post and inundate you with more pictures of my great kids.
