Every day when I put Popcorn down for his nap, we go through a charming stall routine. The demands include:
1. Row, Row, Row Your Boat
2. Jack be nimble
3. Jack Sprat
4. Little Jack Horner
5. One, Two, Buckle my Shoe
and finally,
6. Jack and Jill
Our rendition of Jack and Jill goes something like this:
Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water.
Jack fell down and broke his crown and Jill came tumbling after.
Up Jack got and home did trot as fast as he could caper.
He went to bed. . . "No, mommy. He not."
"He didn't fall down?"
"No, he fall down. He not go nigh-night, to bed, Mommy."
"Oh, okay, let's try it again."
...as fast as he could caper. He went to bed and plas ...
"No,no,no,no,no. He NOT go to bed!!!"
"He didn't go to bed and plaster his head with vinegar and brown paper."
Then we give kisses and blow kisses as I shut the door.
Gotta love that kid! He's three next Friday and already so advanced in the art of stalling.
