We don't know what this is actually called, but the nativity scene carousel thing from Germany makes kids stare. It's a wonderful holiday decoration that I have enjoyed since I was little. The top (in neither picture) is like a fan that has balsa wood blades that begin moving with the heat that rises from the burning candles. It makes the figures go around.
I'm glad to see that it still stirs up wonder and imagination. It was a delight to capture Gem accidentally reenacting the picture of me from 1978. We were both looking at baby Jesus.

I've always loved your parent's carousel also. I've looked around for one to buy but have never found one.
