I Got it Maid!

Jon came home and whispered a sweet something in my ear--"I got you a maid." From now on she will be doing all my floors. That's a very nice thing for a woman eight months pregnant.

Bernice is about 3 inches high and about as big around as an oversized dinner plate. She doesn't do corners well or get under kitchen kick boards very successfully, but for general cleaning she's perfect. Why not just fire her and get someone like Puny from the Mitford books? Because she's a Roomba 350 manufactured by iRobot.

She sits on that charger until I press the button in the middle, then she's off across the floor, eating up all the bits of debris along the way. She's like a good dog looking for dropped food, except she doesn't shed, require feeding, brushing, vet visits or leave bombs in the back yard. When she is done she returns to her charger. I simply empty the dust bin, pop it in again and set her down in a new room. She does hallways very nicely and runs on hard and carpeted surfaces. It takes her about 20 min. to complete an average size room.

She's wonderful.

I just saw this in the store right after I read your post and I had a little sticker shock. John is quite the gift giver!

How long have you been using it? Didn't know if your comments were based on your initial impressions or based on several weeks/months usage.

I've used it for about three weeks. I didn't decide to keep it for a while. I seriously debated taking it back. I have several friends who have gone through a few of them. We bought ours at Target and got the three year warranty for an extra $20--good deal.
